Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) Task Force Arrests Suspect for Encouraging Child Sex Abuse

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested a Central Point man Thursday morning after serving a search warrant at his place of employment. David Durham-Gendreau, 36, of Central Point, Ore. is lodged at the Jackson County jail on charges related to sharing images of child sexual abuse online.

On September 24, 2020, SOCET was alerted to suspicious online activity by the Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. The DOJ had received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding images of child sexual abuse that were uploaded online. NCMEC received a report from the internet service provider that images were uploaded at an IP address in the 100 block of Castlewood Court in Central Point, Ore. Further investigation identified Durham-Gendreau as the suspect.

Durham-Gendreau has been charged with five counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the first-degree. Bail was set at $100,000.

SOCET is a joint inter-agency task force that started in June of 2020 to combat child exploitation and human trafficking. The task force consists of investigators from JCSO, Medford Police Department (MPD), Grants Pass Police Department (GPPD), Oregon State Police (OSP), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS); and prosecutors from our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in Jackson and Josephine County.
