UPDATE -01-24-20 JCSO Case #20-612

CENTRAL POINT, Ore.  The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has announced updated information regarding an investigation that began on 011020 of a deceased person along the roadside on Cobleigh Road near Butte Falls. The victim was later identified as Cody Joseph Baize, 28 years old, of Grants Pass, Oregon.

Today, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office verified that this case is being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators have been working on multiple leads and the case remains an on-going active investigation by the Jackson County Major Assault Death Investigation Unit.

There is no danger to the public regarding potential suspects in the case.

A briefing on the case for the public will be held when circumstances of the case allow release of further information that will not harm the integrity of the investigation.

 

UPDATE -01-11-20 JCSO Case #20-612

BUTTE FALLS, Ore.  On 011020 at 0747 hours the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a deceased person near the roadside on Cobleigh Road about two miles west of Butte Falls Highway.

The deceased has been identified as:

Cody Joseph Baize, 28 years old, of Grants Pass, Oregon. He previously was a resident of Kentucky. 

Further details are not being released at this time as the investigation is an on-going active investigation by the Jackson County Major Assault Death Investigation Unit.

 

 

BUTTE FALLS, Ore.  On 011020 at 0747 hours the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a deceased person near the roadside on Cobleigh Road about two miles west of Butte Falls Highway.

The deceased is a male adult. The circumstances of the death are being treated as suspicious.

JCSO initiated a Major Assault Death Investigation Unit call out.  MADIU members investigating this case are from JCSO, the Jackson County District Attorney's Office, Ashland PD, Central Point PD, Medford PD and Oregon State Police. Jackson County Search and Rescue and Jackson County Roads Department also assisted  at the scene.

Further information is pending identification of the deceased and notification of next of kin.
