OSMB Drift Boat Training on the Rogue River (Photo) - 06/06/19

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) will once again host the Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) Drift Boat Operations Course.  The 2019 class begins Monday, June 10, and concludes on Friday, June 14.  More than 40 students and instructors from law enforcement agencies around the state will be in attendance.

Students will learn a variety of techniques for river rescue and personal safety/survival, all while learning to navigate through rapids and obstacles.  Students will also be briefed on updates to state boating laws and safety resources.

Jackson County, along with Josephine County, has hosted the annual training event for several years.  The Rogue River provides an ideal environment for learning to operate non-motorized boats in patrol and rescue scenarios.

The class is sponsored by the OSMB.  For more information about boating rules and regulations, visit the OSMB website at www.boatoregon.com.
