Commercial Structure Fire in the Illinois Valley - 01/31/.2023 (Photo) - 02/01/23

1/31/2023 call time 1924 hours IVFD received a report of a suspicious open burn behind the old Radio Shack Building.

First units quickly upgraded this to a Commercial Structure Fire.

After suppression efforts were underway, a Second Alarm was initiated with more apparatus and personnel dispatched to respond to the scene

Units responding were Illinois Valley Fire District, AMR-Josephine County, Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County, Grants Pass Fire Rescue, Rogue River Fire District, ODOT, PP&L, Josephine County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, and Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal.

The fire is under investigation and will monitored throughout the night.

Illinois Valley Fire District

Illinois Valley Rural Fire Protection District is now accepting applications to fill two (2) vacancies on the annual Budget Committee. We are inviting all interested persons to apply by sending a letter of interest to jamiepaul@ivfire.com or mailing to 681 Caves Hwy., Cave Junction, OR 97523.

If you have any questions, please call 541-592-3159. All applications must be received at the Administration Building by 4:00 on Thursday, March 20, 2023.

1/10/2023 Large Vehicle Fire on Hayes Hill. (Photo) - 01/10/23

1/10/2023. Call time 1629 hours, IVFD, Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County and ODOT, responded to approximately MM 17, south of the top of Hayes Hill  on Redwood Hwy, for a fully involved Recreational Vehicle fire.

This vehicle has been abandoned in this location several months. Traffic control was assisted by Josephine County Animal Control Officer, who was there at the time of the incident.

There were no injuries and scene has been turned over to ODOT, with the lanes open for travel.
