COLORADO SPRINGS – The Newcomer Summit is a unique event that brings together educators across the state who want to learn and collaborate on strategies to best support newcomer students and families. The focus at the summit will be on inclusivity, making learning accessible for all students, creating welcoming environments, and building empathy.
The morning will feature a presentation from Lutheran Family Services, a panel of D2 students, and professional development provided by Stephanie Dewing and Mary Hansen. Educators will then spend time networking with each other in small groups to share experiences with supporting newcomer students and collaborating to find solutions for building better systems of support for this diverse and growing demographic of students.
The Newcomer Summit on November 16th, 2023, from 8:00 – 12:00pm at the Zalman Center at Harrison High School.
