Harrison School District Two Receives $750,000 Grant - 10/11/21

COLORADO SPRINGS – In August 2021, Harrison School District Two was awarded a competitive grant from the Colorado Department of Education, the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant (CLSD). The CLSD grant will provide $750,000 to Harrison School District Two over the course of four years to develop a comprehensive local literacy plan. Based on determined needs, grant funding will provide professional development opportunities for both administrators and teachers in alignment to evidence based literacy practices and the science of reading.

In addition, established community partnerships will be expanded and further partnerships will be created to extend Harrison School District Two’s breadth of impact in literacy development to support and engage families in the literacy development of every child. For students, the grant will allow new and expanded opportunities for literacy development aligned to scientifically and evidence-based instruction. Throughout the development and implementation phases of the comprehensive local literacy plan, specific focus will be given to ensure effective literacy practices are implemented to close the opportunity gap for underserved student populations.
