Abandoned barn fire in the City of Hood River (Photo) - 10/09/18

Around 5:00 am this morning, Hood River Fire & EMS responded to the 800 Block of Rand Road for a reported house on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a barn fully engulfed in fire.  The structure collapsed shortly after the firefighter’s arrival.  Incident Commander Captain Manuel Irusta said, “upon arrival, the fire was in the upper portion of the barn when the roof collapsed.  The crews did a great job of keeping the fire from spreading to the nearby trees.”

Hood River Fire & EMS was assisted by West Side Fire District and the City of Hood River Public Works.  No loss amount has been determined at this time, but the barn is a total loss.
