Update On July 3rd, 2022 Fatality Crash (Photo) - 09/01/22

Update to below Press Release- Originally issued on 7-3-2022.

On 8-31-2022 Mr. Robert J. Sweeney was arrested, without incident, and lodged at the Washington County jail on charges related to the crash in which he was involved.

1st Update on 7-3-2022

The Washington County Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team (CART) have completed the crash scene investigation. Hillsboro Public Works Crews cleared a down tree and debris from the roadway. All roads effected by the crash are open.

On 7-3-2022 at 0431hrs Hillsboro Police responded to a report of a roll over, single vehicle crash near NW Tanasbourne Dr/NE Stucki Ave. When Officers arrived, they discovered the vehicle on its top and fully engulfed on fire. One patient was extricated by Officers and transported to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. A second occupant was deceased.  The cause of crash is unknown and unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team was called to the scene and is investigating the crash.

While the investigation is underway NW Tanasbourne Dr will be shut down between NE 106th Ave and NW Stucki Ave. NE Stucki Ave. is closed at NE Evergreen Pkwy. Please avoid the area.

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) is a multi-agency team of specially trained law enforcement officers from the Sheriff's Office, local police departments, and the Washington County District Attorney's Office. The team investigates and reconstructs traffic crashes that may result in the prosecution of felony assault or manslaughter charges. The team can also assist with diagramming crime scenes.
