At 4:52 a.m. the Hillsboro Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1901 SE Minter Bridge Road in Hillsboro.
Upon arrival, the fire fighters found the home fully engulfed. The fire was contained. No other homes were damaged.
This home was occupied by Larry and Cynthia Ann Stephens. Mr. Stephens was able to exit the home without injury. Mrs. Stephens died at the scene.
It appears that Cynthia Stephens was in the processing of exiting the home with her husband. As she approached the doorway, Cynthia went back into the home to look for their cat. The cat was found deceased in the home.
The cause of the fire was electrical.
