Small industrial fire contained in Hillsboro business park (Photo) - 10/07/21

Shortly after 11:24 am today, Hillsboro Fire and Rescue along with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded to a general fire building alarm at the Sunset West Business Park located at 1800 NE 25th Avenue. En route to the call, 911 dispatchers advised the responding crews that smoke was reported inside the building and the fire sprinkler system had activated. The call was upgraded to a commercial fire task force to bring additional resources to the scene. Jones Farm Engine 5 arrived within four minutes and entered the structure to search for and extinguish the fire. It was reported to firefighters that everyone inside the building safely evacuated.

Firefighters confirmed that the fire was extinguished and isolated to a small area of one of the companies in the business park. The area where the fire was located contained specialty materials commonly found in high-tech manufacturing. The incident commander requested assistance from the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Hazardous Materials Team (HazMat) to get their specialized training and expertise about the potential impact the fire may have had on those specialty materials in the fire area. Other companies in the business park were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

A Hillsboro Fire investigator responded to the scene and no cause has been determined at this time.

Hillsboro Fire & Rescue would like to thank Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Hillsboro Police, Metro West Ambulance, and Portland General Electric for their assistance.
