News Release

Three Hillboro Residents And Their Dog Safe From Early Afternoon House Fire (Photo) - 12/13/18

Just before 1:00 pm today Hillsboro Fire Station 2 responded to a residential fire on the 3000 block of SE Brookwood Avenue. Firefighters on Engine 2 arrived to find three residents and the family dog safely outside the two level home. As firefighters made their way around the back of the house they saw fire and smoke venting out of a 2nd floor window and fire on the covered back deck. As additional personnel arrived firefighters worked to extinguish the fire inside house and on the deck while others searched the house and cut an opening in the roof to allow heat and smoke to escape.

Unfortunately, due to extensive damage to the structure, the family will not be able to stay in the house. The Red Cross has secured short term lodging for the family and will assit with replacing essentials lost in the fire.

Four Hillsboro Fire Department units and one Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue unit (twenty-five firefighters) responded to the fire. No injuries were reported. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

Hillsboro Fire Department reminds residents to take the time to develop and practice a home escape plan with two ways out of every room in your house and a family meeting place out front. Call 9-1-1 once safely outside and don’t re-enter until fire personnel give the okay.
