American Legion Recognizes Firefighter of the Year (Photo) - 03/14/18

Hillsboro's American Legion Post #6 recognized Hillsboro Fire Departments Fire Engineer/Paramedic Dan King as the 2017 Firefighter of the year at its March 13th meeting. The award nomination and decision by his peers stated that Dan had gone above and beyond his duties as an employee within the organization in 2017. Dan has voluntarily taken on several special projects and was integral in placing equipment and outfitting the new Engine 6 now in service at the Cherry Lane station serving Southeast Hillsboro. Dan's enthusiastic involvement is a contributing factor making a notable difference to the success of our department now and into the future.

Additionally, Dan's involvement in the community clearly shows how much he cares. Dan has served as a member of the Hillsboro Firefighters Random Acts Committee and spent countless hours trying to make sure the people in City of Hillsboro are taken care of when they need help most. Dan, an eight year veteran of the department, has every intention of making the Hillsboro Fire Department the best it can be. He is currently assigned to Ronler Acres Fire Station #3 where he regularly assumes a lead role in training new firefighters on skills in the effective delivery of fire and paramedic services to the citizens of Hillsboro.
