Child Dies In Parking Lot Traffic Crash (Photo)

Gresham, Ore.— Police are investigating after a child was fatally struck by a vehicle in Gresham. Officers responded to a residential parking lot in the 17700 block of E Burnside St just after 11:30 this morning. A vehicle was entering the parking lot when it collided with a young child. Medical responders were unable to revive the child, and they were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Vehicular Crimes Team is investigating the crash. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Speed and impairment are not believed to have contributed to the crash. Officers are investigating how the layout of the parking lot and surrounding obstructions may have contributed to the crash.
The westbound lanes of E Burnside St are closed between NE 176th Ave and NE 181st Ave and will likely remain closed for several hours. NE Glisan St and SE Stark St are available alternate routes for westbound traffic.
