Gresham, Ore.— Many law enforcement agencies across the country have incorporated “flagship vehicles” in their patrol fleets. In addition to being fully functioning patrol vehicles, flagship vehicles are utilized for recruiting, public relations, and special events. The Gresham Police Department (GPD) has seized the opportunity to commission such a vehicle. By utilizing funds within the department’s recruiting budget, GPD was able to wrap a Ford Explorer with a design focused on recruiting. The cost for the wrap is much less than sending a single officer to an out-of-town recruiting event.
Gresham Police Chief Travis Gullberg said, “With this vehicle, we are looking to ‘drive up’ interest from within our diverse community, encouraging residents to consider a career in law enforcement with Gresham Police.”
The vehicle design includes QR Codes that when scanned, direct the user to our “Become a Police Officer” web page, currently located at https://greshamoregon.gov/Become-a-Police-Officer/.
The vehicle will make its public unveiling at the “Rock the Block” event on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. After that, officers will be taking it out on their regular patrol shifts.
