Bus Driver Arrested for DUII - 02/20/18

Gresham, Ore. -- A TriMet bus driver was stopped for speeding and arrested for DUII while driving a bus in Gresham early this morning. At 12:36 AM, a Gresham police officer was on patrol and noticed a vehicle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on SE Stark street near SE 205th avenue. The officer caught up to the vehicle and saw that it was a TriMet bus operating on their route number 20.

The officer stopped the bus on SE Stark street near SE 223rd avenue and contacted the bus driver who showed signs of impairment. The officer conducted a DUII investigation and ultimately arrested the driver, 55-year-old Lamont Biggs, a white male from Portland, for DUII. The lone passenger on the bus left during the traffic stop and was not identified. After Mr. Biggs was arrested the bus was released to a TriMet supervisor at the scene.

Due to medical concerns, paramedics were called to evaluate Mr. Biggs. After Mr. Biggs was processed, he was cited for DUII and released from the Gresham Police Department office, as his possible medical condition would have prevented him from being lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.
