Late Night Shooting Leads to Arrest (Photo) - 01/19/18

Gresham, Ore. -- Gresham Police arrested a man for a shooting that left one man with a gunshot wound to his torso. At 9:18 p.m. Police responded to a gunshot heard in the area of SE 182nd Ave and SE Powell Blvd. The 18 year old victim, Ashton Goleman of Milwaukee, was transported by his friends to the Mount Hood Medical Center with what appears to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Witnesses say they went to meet a guy from Offer Up to purchase a car. The suspect, unrelated to any of these parties, began to verbally assault the group before punching Goleman in the face. While walking away, the suspect then fired one shot striking Goleman.

Police located the suspect leaving the area on foot. He is identified as Derrick Pierce, 28, of Portland. Pierce was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for attempted murder, assault 1, unlawful possession of a weapon, and three counts of reckless endangerment.

Police would like to remind the public that the Gresham Police Department has an e-commerce safe space under video surveillance to conduct these types of transactions.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting is asked to call the Gresham Police at 503.618.2719.
