News Release
Gresham Police Participating in ODOT Speed Enforcement Grant - 01/11/18

Gresham, Ore.-- The Gresham Police Department was recently awarded funding by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to conduct extra speed enforcement patrols in areas where serious injury and fatal vehicle crashes have occurred. The goal of this grant is to reduce speed related crashes in the City of Gresham.

Speeding on city streets can increase the risk of vehicle crashes and injuries. Some of the reasons why are because the driver is more likely to lose control of the vehicle at higher speeds, reaction time and stopping distances increase the faster you go, and crashes are more severe and safety equipment is less effective at higher speeds.

The locations where the focused patrols will be conducted are as follows:

1. 181st corridor between NE Sandy Blvd and E Powell Blvd.
2. Butler Road between SE Regner Rd and SE 190th Ave.
3. SE Orient Drive between the county line and SE Palmquist Ave.
4. Kane Drive between Powell Valley Rd and SE Stark St.
5. NE Halsey St between NE 162nd and NE 202nd.

The Gresham Police Department would like to remind the public to drive safely and follow the posted speed limits.
