Arrest Of Anthony Teal - 08/12/26

Anthony Teal Apprehension
Earlier today, August 11, 2026, it was suspected that Anthony Teal had been in the area of Cloverlawn. There had been several reports of suspicious behavior, which led to this conclusion.
Later in the afternoon, a resident near Cloverlawn reported someone was likely in his RV. Due to the earlier suspicions that Teal had been hiding in the area, Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies cautiously made contact with the RV that was on the resident’s property.
Teal barricaded himself in the RV’s bathroom. Deputies immediately attempted to negotiate with Teal to surrender. After a prolonged period with no signs that Teal would voluntarily exit, chemical agents were introduced into the RV. Negotiations continued.
Josephine County Sheriff’s detectives, the Grants Pass SWAT team, and the Grants Pass CNT (negotiators) team responded to assist. AMR-Josephine County medics staged in the area in case emergency medical help was needed.
Teal was taken into custody without further incident. The Grants Pass Major Crimes Unit will conduct further investigation tonight. A press release with charges will be sent out tomorrow.
We want to thank the Josephine County Sheriff's Office for their professionalism and tactical planning, which helped keep our community safe. With their swift actions, Teal was safely arrested.

Following yesterday's arrest of Anthony Teal, he was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the following charges:
  • Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic Violence)
  • Strangulation
  • Menacing
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Robbery in the First Degree
  • Unlawful Use of a Vehicle
Further charges of Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver to Injured Persons (hit and run) and Eluding will be referred to the Josephine County District Attorney's Office. The Josephine County Sheriff's Office will handle criminal charges from yesterday's barricaded situation.
The Grants Pass Police Department would like to thank the citizens who reported Teal's activities yesterday. Without their information, Teal's whereabouts may still be unknown. Since the original series of crimes on July 30, 2026, Grants Pass Police detectives and local law enforcement have been following tips and other information in an effort to locate Teal. Persons who have knowingly helped him evade arrest may face charges as well.
