Grants Pass Police Department Receives State Accreditation (Photo) - 10/20/22

Grants Pass, Ore. – At the Wednesday evening Grants Pass City Council meeting, the Grants Pass Police Department was officially presented with a Certificate of State Accreditation by the Oregon Accreditation Alliance. The accreditation, which was effective as of September 20, 2022, came after an exhaustive process that involved the review and assessment of the police department’s policies and practices regarding 106 mandatory standards demonstrating best practices within the law enforcement profession. The accreditation review and assessment will occur every three years.

The Oregon Accreditation Alliance program was established to assist law enforcement and communications agencies in establishing and maintaining standards that represent current professional practices. Oregon Accreditation Alliance standards support the continued improvement of law enforcement services, establish best practices, agency accountability and transparency, and enhance management operations.

The accreditation process is one more step the Grants Pass Police Department has taken to build trust and legitimacy within our community and appreciate the recognition by the Oregon Accreditation Alliance. We take pride in knowing we employ outstanding police officers, dispatchers, and support staff that do their best every day to care for our community and live up to the ever-changing “best practice” policing standards identified across our state and throughout the nation.
