Gallego was taken into custody without incident and the 4 year was located in a motel room, safe and sound. The 4 year old child is in the process of being returned to his father. One other child belonging to Gallego was located in the motel room and is in the protective care of DHS.
An AMBER Alert was not utilized in this investigation as it did not meet the requirements, as there were no facts to indicate the child was in any danger of harm. Amber Alerts have specific criteria in place to prevent overuse of the system. Detectives utilized several other resources and partner agencies in order to attempt to locate Gallego and ensure the safety for all involved.
Grants Pass Department of Public Safety want to express their appreciation to the agencies that assisted in the safe recovery of the child and the apprehension of Gallego.
