District Accepting Letters of Interest and Qualifications for Vacant School Board Position
The Granite Falls School Board will be accepting applications to replace the position of Granite Falls School District, District 1 Board Director, serving the areas of 100th St (Burn Road) and Crossroads High School. State law requires the remaining school board members to appoint a replacement within 90 days. The appointed board member will serve until the next regularly scheduled school board election in Fall 2023.
Letters of interest and qualifications are being accepted from now through Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 4:00 pm. Please submit letters of interest and qualifications to mfreeman@gfalls.wednet.edu or drop them off at the Administration Office at 205 North Alder Ave, Granite Falls, WA 98252.
The district will utilize the following criteria for the selection of new board members based on the Washington School Board Standards:
Interviews will take place in an open meeting held on February 22, 2022, and an official announcement will be made on February 23, 2022.
The Granite Falls School Board holds regular board meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Board meetings typically end at about 7:30 pm (with additional time for executive sessions, as needed) and take two to three hours of preparation time to review the meeting information. Board representation at special events (dedications and graduations) along with school visits also takes a significant amount of time.
Interested parties must reside in the Director District Area 1. The area map and description can be viewed on the district website or verified by calling the Snohomish County Elections office at (425) 388-3444.
