Fatal Crash Near Gladstone

On February 24, 2018 at approximately 9:46 PM the Gladstone Police responded to a call of a suspicious drunk male driving in Meldrum Bar Park. It was reported that the male was attempting to pull other vehicles over with his vehicle.
Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle near SE McLoughlin BLVD and Glen Echo Ave and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over and Officers made contact with the driver. During the traffic stop the driver sped away in the vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle north bound on River Rd. and during the short pursuit the vehicle veered off road and crashed. The male, who has yet to be identified, died at the scene. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is conducting the crash investigation. This is an open investigation and no other details are available at this time.
