Friends of the Carpenter Seeking New Board Members - 06/12/18

Vancouver, WA – Friends of the Carpenter (FOC) is recruiting community members to serve on its board of directors to support its mission as a non-profit, faith-based day facility that provides safety, structure and a purpose for vulnerable members of our community.

“This October will mark the 20th anniversary of Friends of the Carpenter and we are seeking new board members who have a strong work ethic, high moral integrity, empathy for those in need and optimism for the future, as our agency plans for the next 20 years,” said Tom Iberle, Executive Director.

Individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds are welcomed, including, but not limited to, business management, financial and banking institutions, civil engineering, facilities management, social services, retired military, pastors or staff from local ministries and legal professionals.

“Non-profit boards are more and more being called upon to be advocates and ambassadors to the community,” shared Grover Icenogle, Board President. “We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and varied life experiences, all with unique gifts and talents, who are not shy to put their best foot forward to help those who have experienced difficulties in life and are ready to take that next step in bringing their lives back on track.”

Candidates, regardless of their own faith journey, need to be comfortable volunteering in a faith-based environment.

About FOC

Friends of the Carpenter was incorporated in Vancouver, WA in Oct. 1998 and began as a vision of a practical outreach of simple welcome and personal interaction between volunteers from the church and people living in poverty. Since the beginning, regular contact has been made with the homeless and poor persons of our community through woodworking events scheduled throughout the community and which, today, are held at FOC’s Friendship Center. Our mission: Friends of the Carpenter is a non-profit, faith-based day facility that provides safety, structure and purpose for vulnerable members of our community.
