News Release
Free Clinic of Southwest Washington Receives $50,000 from The Oregon Community Foundation - 01/11/19

VANCOUVER, Wash., January 11, 2019 - The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has received $50,000 from The Oregon Community Foundation to support the clinic’s volunteer program.

Formally known as the Health Systems Access to Care Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation, this grant will assist in improving the Free Clinic’s volunteer program and expand the volunteer base; increase awareness to broaden its funding base; and implement a needs assessment for the population it serves. Kaiser Permanente NW, Legacy Health, PeaceHealth and Providence Health & Services collaboratively created the Health Systems Access to Care Fund for community-supported clinics in the combined service areas of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Since 1990, volunteers have been the primary source of health care services at the Free Clinic. In this past year alone, the Free Clinic relied on over 500 volunteers to help address the health care needs of uninsured and under-served residents of Southwest Washington. The Free Clinic served approximately 7,000 patients in the last year.

“We so appreciate the support,” says Ann Wheelock, executive director of the Free Clinic. “Our patients will greatly benefit from more robust volunteer and medical programs.”
