$6,000 Grant From Wells Fargo to Free Clinic Of Southwest Washington to Fund Insulin and Other Medications for Low-Income Diabetic Patients - 03/21/18

VANCOUVER, Wash., March 21, 2018 - The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has received a $6,000 grant from Wells Fargo. The grant will fund insulin and other medications for low-income patients enrolled in the clinic's diabetes program.

The Free Clinic provides a transitional program to serve patients with diabetes. The goal is to stabilize the patient's condition and help them transfer to a primary care clinic that serves the uninsured.

"Many of our diabetic patients face barriers so substantial that they can't manage their disease effectively," said Free Clinic Executive Director Barbe West. "This grant will provide supplies for these patients, many of whom simply can't afford the medications they need to survive. We're grateful to Wells Fargo for its many years of support."

Wells Fargo has donated $27,500 to the Free Clinic since 2015 to support a variety of the free medical programs it provides to uninsured and under-served residents of Southwest Washington. William Lockwood, a Wells Fargo Advisors branch manager in Vancouver, serves on its board of directors.

"At Wells Fargo, we feel everyone should be able to receive life-saving care to allow them to live their best lives, regardless of their financial ability," said Lockwood. "By removing barriers to medication, we can create equity for those most in need and thus build a stronger community. That's why Wells Fargo has been a proud supporter of this nonprofit organization for so many years."
