Finley Students Teach Train and Traffic Safety (Photo) - 11/23/22

KENNEWICK, WA – High school students from River View High School visited classrooms at Finley Middle School to teach kids about train safety on Monday, November 21. Stefania Tlachi, one of the RVHS student presenters, will also be leading a traffic safety presentation for Finley Elementary students this coming Monday, November 28.

On November 21, one group of high school presenters performed a play while the other shared a presentation, booklet, and quiz game all around train safety for Finley students. Middle school students learned facts about trains, directions for safely crossing train tracks by foot, bike, or car, and other train safety tips, highlighting the importance of keeping safe around the railroad tracks that run next to the middle and high schools in Finley as kids walk or bike to school. The train safety project was part of the Safe Kids Coalition grant with the Benton-Franklin Health District.

Stefania Tlachi will be continuing this safety education in Finley with a traffic safety presentation to elementary students on November 28 from 8:40-9:15 AM at Finley Elementary School, located at 213504 E Cougar Road in Kennewick. This presentation will be part of a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) project, which Stefania will present at the FCCLA Regional Meeting in January as well, under the National Programs in Action category.
