MEDIA ALERT - Senator Brown to Join In Finley's Ceremony Tomorrow (Photo) - 04/10/18

KENNEWICK, WA – Washington Senator Sharon Brown will join local donors and Finley community members tomorrow, April 11 at 11:30 AM for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Finley School District’s brand new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center. The CTE Center is the result of an outstanding show of support by the Finley community, who helped its school district raise over $100,000 in donations in order to secure grant funds to finance the project.  In addition, the passage of Finley's school bond in February 2017 assured the Center would become a state-of-the-art facility for Finley’s youth.

Finley is one of only six school districts across the state who received a STEM Pilot Project grant awarded by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in 2016. Raising money was a contingency for the district to receive the $3 million STEM grant.

During tomorrow's ceremony, donors to the project will see their names memorialized in the brick pathway leading to the new facility. Community members across the Tri-Cities are encouraged to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 11:30 AM on April 11 at the CTE Center, located next to Finley Middle School at 37208 S. Finley Road in Kennewick.  Refreshments will be provided, and tours of the facility will be available after the ceremony.
