News Release
Cascade Park Community Library is getting a 'refresh' - 01/09/20

VANCOUVER, Wash. – After ten years of serving East Vancouver’s growing community, it’s time for Cascade Park Community to get a light “refresh” beginning at the end of the month. The library will be closed from Monday, January 27 through Monday, February 17 for painting, new carpet, and some other minor upgrades, while still allowing patrons to return materials and pick up holds on a modified schedule. The library will also offer a selection of off-site storytimes in the community.

Holds Pickup and Book Returns

During the closure, library patrons can continue to place holds on library materials via Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries’ website (www.fvrl.org), and pick them up in the library’s Community Room from Monday, January 27 through Wednesday, February 12 during these hours and days:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays: 11 am–7 pm
  • Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays: 9 am–5 pm

Book returns will be available near the current book drops, to the right of the entrance to the building.

Off-site Storytimes

While most library programs will be canceled during the closure, the library will offer some of its popular storytimes through community partners’ locations:

  • Family Storytime: Tuesday, January 28, 10:30-11:30 am at Firstenberg Community Center, 700 NE 136th Ave, Vancouver
  • Building Blocks Storytime: Tuesday, January 28, 11:30 am-12:30 pm at Hearthwood Elementary, 801 NE Hearthwood Blvd, Vancouver
  • Family Storytime: Tuesday, February 4, 10:30-11:30 am at Firstenberg Community Center
  • Building Blocks Storytime: Monday, February 10, 11:30-12:30 at Crestline Elementary, 13003 SE 7th St, Vancouver
  • Family Storytime: Tuesday, February 11, 10:30-11:30 am at Firstenberg Community Center

In addition to the storytimes, the Friends of Cascade Park Community Library will hold their February meeting at Firstenburg Community Center on Saturday, February 14 from 9 to 10 am.

Another busy year at Cascade Park Community Library

The library’s “refresh” comes just over 10 years after the library opened in its current location in December of 2009, providing the community with numerous materials, resources, and programs. In 2019, the branch offered over 1,000 programs, had more than 425,000 visitors, answered over 75,000 patron questions, and circulated almost a million items (checkouts and renewals).
