About Friends of the Children-Portland

Friends of the Children-Portland’s mission is to impact generational change by empowering youth who are facing the greatest obstacles through relationships with professional mentors – a 12+ year commitment, no matter what. For 27 years, Friends of the Children has used evidence-based strategies and nurturing relationships to serve youth in its programs. A study conducted by the Harvard Alumni Association of Oregon showed that for every $1 invested in Friends program youth, $7 is returned to the community in savings within the public sector and contributions to the private sector. Last year, Friends of the Children-Portland was named the number one Most-Admired Nonprofit in Oregon by the Portland Business Journal for the sixth time in eight years and designated the top non-profit by the BBB in 2018 for the Western States & Hawaii region.
