Overnight 2 Alarm Fire Damages Home In Forest Grove (Photo) - 08/09/26

At 12:18am on Sunday August 9th, Forest Grove Firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 3100 block of Lavina Drive. Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions from the garage and spreading above to the main portion of the split level house. Firefighters began fighting the flames in the garage while additional firefighters worked on accessing the main area of the house. Access to the living area of the house was made difficult due the house being built on a hill, with a stair way and deck to the front door being blocked off from heavy fire as well as items stored in the area to include over a dozen bikes, with several being E-Bikes. Firefighters had to climb a five foot tall retaining wall to get to the front door to access the main portion of the house with ladders put in place later in the incident. Due to the increased amount of fire, additional crews were needed to the scene and a Second Alarm was dispatched at 12:33am.

After approximately 35 minutes on scene, the fire was deemed under control. Crews then spent over an hour checking for hot spots. During this process, a firefighter from Cornelius Fire Department had a piece of debris fall onto them, they were transported to a local hospital with for further evaluation. At time of release, there is not an update on them. 
 

The fire caused heavy damage throughout the structure. The sole resident was able to safely evacuate. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene by Cornelius Fire Department, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Gaston Fire District, Banks Fire District, AMR Washington County and Forest Grove Police Department.
