House Fire Displaces Four in Forest Grove (Photo) - 05/20/23

(Resent for possible picture problem)

At 4:09pm on Friday May 19th, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported house fire on Hillcrest Way. Firefighters arrived shortly after to find an exterior fire at the entrance of the house, they were able to quickly extinguish those flames but the fire had spread into the attic of the home. The crews then went into the home to fight the fire in the attic, they accomplished this by pulling down the ceiling in rooms to access the attic space. Thankfully the fire in the attic was confined to one portion of the house and didn’t spread through the entire roof structure. While the fire didn’t enter the living area of the home, it did sustain smoke and water damage.

While firefighters were extinguishing the fire and putting out hot spots, other fire personnel were medically evaluating an occupant and two neighbors. As a precaution, all three were transported to nearby hospitals for further evaluation by doctors. Two of the patients were transported by Metro West Ambulance, the third was transported by a Forest Grove Fire Transport Rescue unit.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to have started on the exterior of the home near the front entryway. Four adult occupants received assistance from Red Cross for temporary shelter.

Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene by Cornelius Fire Department, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Gaston Fire District, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Metro West Ambulance, American Red Cross, Forest Grove Light & Power and NW Natural Gas.
