Media Advisory: Portland And Seattle FBI Leaders Will Release New Info & Make New Request In Ballot Box Incendiary Device Case -01/15/25

FBI Portland Special Agent in Charge Doug Olson and FBI Seattle Special Agent in Charge W. Mike Herrington will host a press conference on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 1 pm in the FBI's Portland office to discuss new information in the case of three ballot boxes burned in Vancouver and Portland in October.
 
Normal security protocols are in place. Reporters and photographers wishing to attend must provide full name, date of birth, and driver's license number to media.portland@fbi.gov no later than 11 am on Thursday. Media will receive more details about arrival times, parking, and ID requirements once registered.
 
There will not be a call-in line.
 
No further information will be released prior to the press conference.

FBI Proposed Statement:

The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist mailings sent to individuals and organizations in Lincoln County, Oregon. 

The FBI’s mission is to protect the American people and uphold the U.S. Constitution. Actions outside a lawful process infringe on everyone’s rights and law enforcement’s collective ability to keep people safe, regardless of their race.

Community members who feel they are being physically threatened should report those concerns to their nearest local law enforcement agency.
