News Release
Voters passing $695 million Evergreen Public Schools bond measure - 02/14/18

Updated election results are in for the $695 million Evergreen Public Schools bond measure. As of 3:30 p.m., Wednesday February 14, 61 percent of voters are approving the measure that will replace five elementary schools, build a new elementary school, replace Wy'East Middle School, Legacy and Mountain View High Schools, and provide substantial updates at many other district schools.

"The voters have placed great confidence in the district by approving the largest bond in the community's history. When combined with anticipated state matching funds and locally collected impact fees, more than $800 million in school projects will be completed over the next six years. Thank you to the community for your incredible support," stated School Board President Todd Yuzuriha.

The first step begins immediately with the start of financial and project management components that will allow capital improvements, design and construction to begin as early as this spring. Projects included in the bond are all slated for completion by 2024.

The elections results are considered preliminary since ballots, postmarked on February 13, could still be received by Clark County Elections over the next several days. The first election night tally of 20,473 ballots had the Bond passing at 60.12 percent, but with today's update of another 2,173 ballots counted, the Yes votes rose one percent. In Washington state, school bonds need a super majority of 60 percent to pass. Final election results will be certified on Friday, February 23, 2018.
