Evergreen Habitat for Humanity's Annual 'Raising the Roof' Benefit Breakfast Raises $125,700 - 09/13/18

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity’s Annual ‘Raising the Roof’ Benefit Breakfast was attended by 625 people and raised $125,700 on Thursday, September 6, 2018. Proceeds from this event will go to benefit Evergreen Habitat for Humanity and be used to build the remaining four homes for local low income families at their newest subdivision off of Middle Way, McKibbin Commons.

“How blessed we are to live in a community full of generous givers and doers.  The success of this event belongs to every person in the room, as well as each of the Habitat homebuyers who will take the fruits of this event and turn them in to loving and thriving homes.” Said Bruce Armstrong, Acting Executive Director. “Thank you to our dedicated sponsors, table hosts, and volunteers for your commitment to eliminating poverty housing here in Clark County and around the globe. Together we continue to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.”

Rev. Dr. Chris Montovino was the master of ceremonies and kept the crowd entertained all morning.

The benefit also featured a short video showing a day in the life of a family who lives in their new Habitat home at McKibbin Commons. This heartwarming video focused on what homeownership has meant to them and the positive effects it has and will have on their lives and the lives of their children.

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity homeowner, Christi Adams bravely shared her story from homeless, to homeowner, detailing her family's journey with Habitat and how their lives were forever changed after moving into their Habitat home.

Habitat also recognized award recipients as well. Habitat volunteer, Chris Nielson, was named the 2018 Volunteer of the Year, Mojgan Kasraei received the Ray Johnson award, and St. Andrew Lutheran Church received the Faith in Action award.  Thank you to all of them for their outstanding dedication and support of Habitat.
