Firefighters Contain Fire In North Springfield (Photo) - 08/15/26

Springfield, OR. August 15th, 2016. Eugene Springfield Fire responded Saturday afternoon to a mobile home fire at the Filbert Grove Mobile Home Park in North Springfield near RiverBend Hospital.

Just after 3 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a reported kitchen fire in a mobile home at the park. Engine 5 from the Gateway Station arrived approximately five minutes later and found a double-wide mobile home well involved in fire, with flames threatening a neighboring home.

Firefighters were advised on arrival that all occupants had safely evacuated. Crews immediately began attacking the fire while simultaneously conducting a search of the home to confirm no one remained inside.

Even when occupants or bystanders report that everyone has safely evacuated, searching the structure remains a high tactical priority for firefighters. Fire scenes can be chaotic, and there is always the possibility that an occupant remains inside or that another person entered the structure in an attempt to help. Fire crews work to independently confirm that no one remains in danger while suppression operations are underway.

Firefighters contained the fire to the home of origin, and no damage was reported to neighboring homes. No injuries were reported.

Eugene Springfield Fire Deputy Fire Marshals are on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
