Eugene, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to two fires in west Eugene Tuesday night.  Just before 10 PM on September 2nd, crews were dispatched to a possible brush fire in the 2200 block of W 6th Ave.  Firefighters arrived to find a large fire burning pellets of wood shavings at Coastal Farm.  It took two engines and a water tender about 90 minutes to extinguish the fire.  The cause is under investigation. At approx 1052 PM while crews were still busy at the Coastal Farm Fire, ESF was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at a business in the 1300 block of Bailey Hill Road.  A Passerby reported that there was water coming from the lower area of a door with a burning smell in the area.  Engine 10 from the Bailey Hill Fire Station arrived in approximately 4.5 minutes and upgraded to a commercial fire assignment consisting of four engines, two ladder trucks, two chiefs , an ambulance and EMS supervisor.

Crews quickly forced entry in to the building and located the sprinkler controlled fire.  The firefighters made access with a hose-line to extinguish the remaining fire and performed a primary search of the building for any potential victims.  With the fire under control, units performed extensive overhaul, ventilated smoke, and conducted a secondary search of the structure.  ESF fire marshals office is on scene investigating. The fire was contained to the area of origin (racked chemical and paint storage). There were no  injuries reported.
