Responds to 2nd Alarm Fire in Springfield *Update* - 07/06/18


Eugene Springfield Fire Marshal has released the following information on last night's fire. It has been determined that the fire originated in the garage of the single family home and the official cause of the fire is undetermined. The home was occupied by five adults at the time of the fire, four of them were able to get out. One adult female, Clara Mae Baller age 74 was pronounced dead at the scene.


On July 5 at approximately 9:51 p.m., Eugene Springfield Fire responded to 1900 E Street in Springfield, for reports of a house fire. When initial crews arrived on scene, they found a single family home engulfed in flames along with a duplex next-door beginning to burn. Crews immediately initiated a 2nd Alarm response upon arrival.

A woman who lived in the single family home has been reported as deceased. The name of the victim will not be released at this time.
