Prevent Coalition Offers Prevention Tools for Schools and Parents - 09/18/18

WHAT

Substance abuse prevention tools for building youth resilience will be offered at Prevent Coalition’s quarterly meeting on Thursday, September 20th. Local teens from STASHA (Strong Teens Against Substance Hazards & Abuse) will present Good Friends in Hard Times. Friendship: Own It, a tool to help teens talk to each other about the risks of underage marijuana abuse. Toolkits for parents and schools to use to keep youth from using tobacco and alcohol will also be presented, as well as an overview of the Prevent Coalition and Youth Now websites, which host several resources available for community use. Teachers, faculty members, parents and community members are invited to attend the meeting to learn about these important substance abuse prevention tools and how to use them.

Thursday, September 20th, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm

ESD 112 Conference Center, 2500 NE 65th Ave. in Vancouver

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Research shows that a connected community is a safe and healthy community. Prevent Coalition strives to be a connector and convener for all substance abuse prevention efforts in Clark County and works to reduce the risk factors known to contribute to substance use while increasing the factors that are known to protect youth from using substances.

 

WHO
