News Release
Eagle Point City Council and Eagle Point PD take part in "1st Responder Wellness Week" - 03/26/24

On March 12th, 2024, the Eagle Point City Council adopted a resolution to recognize March 25-29, 2024, as "First Responder Wellness Week."  The Eagle Point Police Department is joining thousands of public safety agencies around the US to recognize the sacrifices made by law enforcement, firefighters, dispatchers, and EMS providers.

First responders risk their lives every day as part of their duties. The nature of the work will increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and decrease life expectancy to a level much lower than the national average. First responders, on average, are exposed to 188 critical incidents through the course of their career, increasing the risk for developing PTSD 25.6 times higher than the average individual.

All week, members of the Eagle Point Police Department will be given tips and training opportunities to learn more about how to increase resiliency and ways to foster a healthier lifestyle.  Combating the stress and ensuring more wellness training will help keep our officers safe and ensure they experience a long, productive career.  Topics include fitness, Peer Support, nutrition, mental health, and family support. These topics will be shared through our cooperative agreement with Lexipol, a policy and training organization for first responders.

We recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and commitment required to work in this profession.  We want to promote awareness and work with all our partner agencies to increase the health and wellbeing of all first responders in the valley.
