Missing ‘Keep Portland Weird’ Cat Has Been Found

(Portland, OR) – September 22, 2024: Portland Metro Chamber and Downtown Portland Clean & Safe want to thank the public for its help in locating the ‘Keep Portland Weird' cat statue.

This rare unicorn cat was created and designed by local artist Celeste Potgieter and is one of 30 statues displayed along the trail in various locations around Downtown Portland as part of a charitable effort supporting OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, a renowned academic pediatric hospital that has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 1926.

“We are thrilled to announce that the "Keep Portland Weird" cat statue, which went missing from Tom McCall Waterfront Park on the Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail, has been found,” says Sydney Mead, Senior Director of Downtown Programs for Downtown Portland Clean & Safe. “Thanks to the community’s support, this beloved piece of art will be rejoining the trail in the coming days. We are excited to have the cat back on display and continue our efforts to raise funds for OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this elusive cat home!”

Thousands of locals and fans of LAIKA’s beloved film Coraline have visited the trail since it opened. These statues are all slated for public auction on October 30th with funds to benefit the hospital.

Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail remains open until October 13th.
