Trained hawks assist with abatement of roosting crows

Downtown Portland Clean & Safe and Integrated Avian Solutions host urban falconry demonstration in downtown core

Portland, Ore. – On Tuesday, October 15 (6:30 p.m.), representatives from Downtown Portland Clean & Safe and Integrated Avian Solutions will highlight urban falconry. Join us for a unique demonstration featuring trained hawks that assist with the abatement of roosting crows within a 72-block area of Downtown Portland.

WHEN:  6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 15. Following a brief presentation, trained hawks will be released for the demonstration at 6:40 p.m.
WHERE:  900 SW 5th Ave. (Fountain in front of The Standard Insurance Center).
WHO:  Representatives from Downtown Portland Clean & Safe and Integrated Avian Solutions.
WHAT:  Highlight urban falconry with trained hawks that assist with the abatement of roosting crows within a 72-block area of Downtown Portland.

The evening will begin with a brief presentation from Integrated Avian Solutions. Media will have the opportunity to ask questions. A demonstration of the trained hawks will happen in front of The Standard at 6:40 p.m. Following the demonstration, media is welcome to join Integrated Avian Solutions on their beat to see how the clearing works.

This is the third year Downtown Portland Clean & Safe has worked with Integrated Avian Solutions to utilize urban falconry as a humane tactic to reduce the presence of roosting crows in the downtown core. Families and children are welcome to attend, and bird-themed treats will be provided.
