FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 7, 2021
***VOLUNTEERS NEEDED***
Douglas County Senior Services
(Douglas County, Ore.) The Douglas County Board of Commissioners are issuing an urgent call for volunteers to help our Douglas County Senior Services Department in preparing, dispersing and delivering meals to our most vulnerable and cherished population here in Douglas County, our seniors. Our Douglas County Senior Services Department is desperately in need of volunteers for their senior Meals on Wheels, and senior dining site drive-thru meal pick-up programs.
There has never been a more critical time to get involved, as more than 9 million seniors in America face the threat of hunger, and millions more live alone in isolation. Locally, we have seen a significant rise in our local need for senior meals since the pandemic began over 17 months ago. Whether you have only a few hours one day a week or can volunteer every day, your assistance is so very much needed! Volunteers are needed to fill positions as: Greeters, Servers, Drivers, Kitchen Helpers, Dishwashers, Back-up Drivers, Cleaning Crew and Steam Table Helpers. See the details below.
