* * * NOTICE * * * New Oregon COVID Businesses Funds Coming Soon

            (Douglas County, Ore.)  The Douglas County Board of Commissioners were surprised, but also encouraged that the State of Oregon has committed the allocation of $55 million in financial assistance to support Oregon businesses who have been detrimentally impacted by COVID-19.  In a press conference held yesterday, Tuesday, November 17, 2020, Oregon’s Governor made the announcement that they will be distributing Coronavirus Relief Funds to Oregon counties, with each county receiving a proposed base of $500,000, plus a per capita allocation of the remainder of the funds.  She stated further that, each Oregon County would be responsible for deciding how businesses apply to receive funds, as well as communicating the application process to local businesses.

            However, the announcement and the new COVID Business funding program came as a shock to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, as they were not notified prior to the press conference about the program.  At this time, we do not know how the program will work, who will be eligible to receive funding or the exact date that the funds will be distributed to us.  But, rest assured that as soon as we have all the details, we will be posting information about the program on our website, along with how and where local business can apply.

            “Our local businesses have been tremendously impacted by COVID over the last ten months, and we are happy to see that they will be able to apply for some much needed financial relief.  We will be diligently working with State Officials to make sure that Douglas County receives their full allocation, and that it is distributed to our local business as quickly and efficiently as possible.  We ask that you have patience with us as we work through the process,” stated Commissioner Chris Boice.

             In the meantime, local businesses can email Douglas County Government at:, and ask to be added to the COVID Business Funding Program mailing list to receive the latest updates.
