The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Asking The Public For Help Locating Missing 88-Year-Old Terrebonne Woman With Dementia (Photo) - 08/04/26

UPDATE: Missing Terrebonne Woman Found Safe

 

The Deschutes County Sheriffs Office is happy to report that 87-year-old Janet Montoya has been found. She was located by Deschutes County Sheriffs Office Search & Rescue volunteers in the area of NW Jordan Court in Terrebonne.

 

Montoya was alert, conscious, and in decent condition when volunteers contacted her. Redmond Fire and Rescue was dispatched to evaluate her and ensure she is okay.


The Sheriffs Office would like to thank the community for the tremendous support shown throughout this search. People's willingness to share information, remain alert, and call in tips makes a difference in missing persons cases. 
 

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our Search & Rescue volunteers. Their dedication is evident not only in backcountry rescues, but in missing person searches and in assisting residents during fire evacuations. We are grateful for their commitment and service to our community.

 

 

Terrebonne, OR – The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating an elderly woman who went missing at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, after leaving her home in Terrebonne. 88-year-old Janet Montoya suffers from dementia and was last seen on 17th Street approaching Davidson Way.

 

The Sheriff’s Office has released images of Montoya from a Ring doorbell camera taken as she walked out her front door, along with her most recent DMV photo. These images reflect her current appearance and the clothing she was wearing when she was last seen.

 

Montoya is described as 5'4", 126 pounds, with brown eyes and short gray hair. She was last seen wearing a maroon vest, a long-sleeved blue shirt, light blue jeans, hiking boots, and a blue visor, and carrying a purse.

 

Due to her dementia and vulnerable condition, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue volunteers have been deployed to assist in locating Montoya. The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents in the Terrebonne area to check around their properties, review home security footage, and report any possible sightings immediately.

 

Anyone with information on Montoya’s whereabouts is asked to contact non‑emergency dispatch at (541) 904‑5863.
