Car Crash Causes Collapse of Utility Pole on Baker Road (Photo) - 08/08/24

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is currently being assisted by Century Link, to remedy the downed lines that belong to them. Century Link further advised the utility pole, and remaining lines are property of TDS.

Vehicle: 2002 Subaru Legacy

 

Narrative:

On August 8, 2024, at 12:00 pm a motor vehicle crash caused a power pole to fall into the Baker Road, just west of Umatilla Circle in Deschutes River Woods.

Currently the cause and manner of the crash are still under investigation. Only communication lines are in the roadway, and no live power lines are involved. Baker Road is currently closed, and Deschutes County Public Works is staffing the closure.

Century Link, the owner of the downed communication lines advised they will respond to the area and repair the lines as early as tomorrow or possibly Monday.

The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle was issued a citation for Careless Driving.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is a full-service agency that oversees the adult jail, provides patrol, criminal investigations, civil process and search and rescue operations. Special units include SWAT, Marine Patrol, ATV Patrol, Forest Patrol, along with five K9 teams. Founded in 1916 and today led by your duly elected Sheriff L. The agency has 259 authorized and funded personnel, which includes 193 sworn employees who provide services to the 3,055 square miles of Deschutes County.
