Missing Person Found Deceased In The Deschutes River In Terrebonne Area (Photo) -08/08/22

LOCATION: Lower Bridge Way Mile Post 6

DECEASED: 37 year old male, Prineville, OR

On August 6, 2022 at approximately 9:14 PM the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Mile Post 6 on Lower Bridge Way for a report of a missing person. The reporting person informed deputies that he had been swimming with his friend. At one point, the reporting person went to run an errand. When he returned he was unable to locate his friend. 

Deputies searched the area along with two SAR volunteers, a drone with thermal capabilities and K9 Copper with his partner Deputy Donny Patterson without success. 

At approximately 7:00 AM additional resources responded to the area to assist in the search consisting of 17 SAR volunteers and the swift water rescue team, K9’s, and drone teams. After approximately five and a half hours, the subject was located in the river approximately ½ mile downstream from Lower Bridge Way. Unfortunately the subject was deceased when he was located. This investigation is a non-criminal investigation. Nothing suspicious was noted during the investigation. 

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
