Arrested:  Alexander Mark Smith, 22 year old male, Redmond, Oregon  

Charges: 

Murder 2 

Abuse of a corpse 2 

Burglary 2 

Trespass 2 

Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle

On June 3rd at approximately 3:23 PM, deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Jordan Road and Hwy 20 West.  The reporting person advised he had a male on his property requesting paramedics.  Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the male identified as Alexander Mark Smith.  

During the contact with Smith deputies located evidence linking him to the death of Tina Klein-Lewis.  Smith was arrested without incident and lodged at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail on the above listed charges.  

Any further information will be released by the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is still actively investigating this case. Our detective division continues to work with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, Medical Examiner, and the Oregon State Police crime lab to investigate the circumstances surrounding this death. There is a large amount of evidence that still needs to be processed and analyzed in order to get the most accurate account of what took place. We understand the need for information. Our goal is to to conduct the most complete and thorough investigation possible. Further information will be released when it will not affect the investigation.

Deceased: 55 year old female

Location: 60000 block of Cloverdale Rd. 

 

On May 31, 2022 at approximately 10:39 PM the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a deceased female located on a property in the 60000 block of Cloverdale Rd. Deputies responded and began a death investigation. DCSO detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Detectives with the assistance of the Medical Examiner, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Oregon State Police crime lab have been continuing the investigation. 

At this time the cause of death is unknown. Detectives and the Medical Examiner are working to determine the cause of death. 

It is still early on in the investigation and further information will be released at a later time.
