On April 12, 2022 at approximately 9:38 PM Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call of a dispute on SW Mesa Way in the Redmond area. Prior to DCSO’s response the deputies were notified that Jonathan Burke had left the area in a green Jeep Cherokee. Deputies were also given information that Burke was intoxicated and may be going to the Cline Falls Mobile Home Park off of Highway 126.

A deputy responded to the mobile home park and located the Jeep. Upon the deputy’s arrival he observed the Jeep begin to move. The driver of the Jeep did a U-turn in the parking lot and start driving toward the exit of the mobile home park. The deputy attempted to get the vehicle to stop by turning on his emergency lights and giving commands for the driver of the vehicle to stop. The driver of the Jeep, identified as Burke refused to stop and continued driving. Burke drove past the deputy nearly striking him.

Another deputy responded to the mobile home park and heard that Burke was refusing to stop. He placed Stop Sticks at the entrance to the mobile home park to prevent Burke from entering the highway. Burke was able to avoid the spike strips and drove west on Highway 126 toward Sisters leading deputies on a short pursuit. The pursuit was quickly discontinued due to Burke’s speed. Deputies lost sight of Burke’s Jeep in the area of Hwy 126 and Holmes Rd.

Deputies continued checking the area and ended up locating the Jeep on Holmes Rd. near milepost 6. The deputy kept the Jeep in sight and watched it turn onto Lower Bridge Rd. The Jeep continued until it reached the end of the road. As Burke was attempting to turn around and drive out of the area, the deputy was able to use his patrol vehicle to prevent Burke from driving out of the area.

Burke was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Jail on the above mentioned charges.
