Subject Arrested After Leading Deputies on Short Pursuit (Photo) - 02/15/22

Location: Highway 97 MP 119

Driver: Landon Shaffor, 21 year old male, Redmond

Vehicle: 2000 Ford Ranger

Charges: Attempt to Elude (felony), Attempt to Elude (misdemeanor), Reckless Driving, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, Reckless Endangering, Criminal Trespass II, Criminal Mischief II and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

On February 14, 2022 at approximately 11:07 PM the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was advised by dispatch of a Ford Ranger leaving the area where a crime had just been reported within the city limits of Redmond. The vehicle was reported to be driving northbound at a high rate of speed through the City of Redmond. DCSO deputies had knowledge of this vehicle from a prior incident and believed it would be traveling to the Terrebonne area. Deputies then set up on Highway 97 south of Terrebonne with Stop Sticks in order to get the vehicle to stop before entering the residential area of Terrebonne. A deputy saw the Ford Ranger driving without lights in the area of Highway 97 near milepost 119. The deputy continued to follow the truck at a distance without lights or siren knowing there were other deputies waiting in Terrebonne with Stop Sticks.

The vehicle continued north into Terrebonne where the Stop Sticks were successfully deployed. After the deployment of the Stop Sticks, the deputy activated his lights and siren in order to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle immediately accelerated away and turned onto F Avenue. The deputy lost sight of the vehicle and turned off his lights and siren.

Deputies continued looking for the truck, later locating it parked in the garage of a residence under construction in the 9000 block of 18th Ct. The truck was unoccupied when it was located. The driver, Landon Shaffor was located walking in the area of NE 13th St. in Terrebonne. Shaffor was detained without incident.

Based on statements obtained and evidence collected during the investigation Shaffor was arrested on the above mentioned charges and lodged in the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail.
