Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue assist injured mountain Bike Rider on Phil's Trail, west of Bend (Photo) - 08/24/20

On August 24th, 2020 at about 3:31 PM, Deschutes County 911 received a call regarding an injured mountain bike rider on Phil’s Trail, near Forest Service Road 4610, west of Bend.  Because of the location of the injured rider, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Unit responded with 2 Deputies and 14 DCSO Search and Rescue Volunteers.

The first Deputy arrived at the rider’s location at about 4:14 PM, and identified the rider as Bob Brinkmann of Salem, Oregon.  DCSO Search and Rescue volunteers arrived on scene a few minutes later.  They evaluated Brinkmann’s condition, stabilized him and prepared him for transport.  Brinkmann was carried by wheeled litter to the 4610 road, where he was loaded into a Search and Rescue vehicle.  Brinkmann was driven down to an awaiting Bend Fire and Rescue ambulance at Skyliners Road, where he was transferred to their care at 5:30 PM.

Bend Fire Department then transported Brinkmann to the St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
